2. What is the suppression list?
3. Actions depending on the subscription source
1. Introduction
To prevent your campaigns from being sent to contacts who have unsubscribed, every time a contact cancels their subscription, their email address is added to the audience suppression list.
This way, you can delete contacts without worrying about accidentally re-subscribing them manually or via an import.
2. What is the suppression list?
The suppression list is an automatic mechanism that prevents previously unsubscribed contacts from being reactivated without their consent. Easymailing checks this list every time a new contact is added.
3. Actions depending on the subscription source
Whenever a new contact is added, Easymailing checks if the email is on the suppression list. If it is, the action taken depends on the origin of the subscription:
Source | Action |
Manual | The contact is marked as "cleaned or unsubscribed" |
Imported | The contact is marked as "cleaned or unsubscribed" |
API | An email is sent for the contact to confirm their subscription |
Form | An email is sent for the contact to confirm their subscription |
4. Re-subscribing unsubscribed contacts
However, if the subscriber has the status unsubscribed, they must confirm their subscription via an email they will receive in order to become active again and continue receiving campaigns.
5. Ways to confirm a new subscription
Below are the different methods by which a contact with "unsubscribed" status can confirm their subscription again:
Source | Action |
API | By creating or updating the contact via the API. The subscriber will receive an email to confirm their subscription. |
Form | The subscriber will receive an email to confirm their subscription. |
Control panel | Go to Audience > Subscribers, click on the contact’s email, and at the top click the "Send subscription email" button so they can confirm their subscription. |
