Configure SMS senders
An SMS sender is the identifier that can appear as the origin of an SMS message. In Easymailing, you will also see it as the Sender ID.
Table of contents
Before you start
Before creating a sender, decide which name you want to use as the Sender ID. It must be 3 to 11 alphanumeric characters and cannot contain only numbers.
The sender cannot be used immediately after creation. It first goes through internal validation and then the sending profile is activated.
Create an SMS sender
1 Go to Settings.
2 Open SMS senders.
3 Click New SMS sender.
4 Enter the Internal name. This name is only used to identify the sender inside Easymailing.
5 Enter the Sender ID. This is the text Easymailing will try to show to the recipient when the country allows it.
6 Click Save.
After saving, Easymailing opens the sender detail page and shows the status Validating....
Understand sender statuses
| Validating... | Easymailing is automatically reviewing the sender. It cannot be used yet. |
| Pending activation | The sender has passed internal validation and the team is activating the sending profile. |
| Active | The sender can be used in SMS sends, as long as the country and operator allow it. |
| Rejected | The sender was not approved. |
| Suspended | The sender is temporarily unavailable. |
Review country coverage
On the sender detail page, the Countries and sender used table explains what will happen when an SMS campaign reaches each country.
The table shows:
- the country;
- the sender that will be used;
- the registration status;
- notes about the SMS route;
- the available action, if the country allows registration requests.
You may see countries where your Sender ID is used, countries where a system number is used and countries where a default sender is used. This depends on country availability, the operator and the registration status.
Request registration in a country
Some countries require the sender to be registered before it can be used as a text sender.
If the Request registration action appears:
1 Click Request registration.
2 Review the country, the Sender ID and the sender that will be used while the request is being processed.
3 Click Request registration to send the request to the Easymailing team.
Why you cannot use a sender
You may not be able to use an SMS sender for one of these reasons:
- it is still Validating...;
- it is Pending activation;
- it is Rejected or Suspended;
- it does not have a sending profile configured;
- the country requires registration and it is not registered yet;
- the country or operator does not allow that Sender ID to be displayed;
- the Sender ID does not meet the required format.
If the sender is pending validation or activation, wait until the status changes. If you need to use it in a country where registration is required, request registration from the country table.
