How to create and send an SMS campaign
An SMS campaign lets you send a text message to contacts in an audience who have a phone number and a confirmed SMS status.
Contents
Before you start
You need an audience with contacts who can receive SMS messages, an active SMS sender, and enough SMS credits.
Create the campaign
1 Go to Campaigns.
2 Click New campaign.
3 Enter an internal title to identify the campaign.
4 Under Channel, select SMS.
5 Keep Regular selected as the campaign type.
6 Click Save.
After saving, Easymailing opens the SMS campaign setup. You will see three main steps: To, From, and SMS message.
Select recipients
In the To block, click Complete and choose the audience you want to send the SMS to.
You can send to:
- the whole audience;
- a saved segment;
- a custom segment;
- one or more groups.
If you use a custom segment, use Count subscribers to check how many contacts match the conditions before saving.
Choose the SMS sender
In the From block, select the sender that will appear in the message.
Write the message
In the SMS message block, write the text the contact will receive.
From the editor you can:
- insert emojis;
- insert personalization fields;
- insert the special SMS unsubscribe link;
- review the preview with a contact from the audience;
- search for a contact by name, email, or phone to check personalization.
The editor counter shows characters, segments, and message encoding. If you use non-GSM-7 characters, the message may switch to Unicode and allow fewer characters per segment.
Each segment consumes credits. If the message is split into multiple segments, Easymailing shows the credit multiplier in the preview.
Send a test SMS
When recipients, sender, and message are complete, the campaign is ready to send.
1 Open the dropdown next to Send now.
2 Select Send test SMS.
3 Enter the destination phone number.
4 Click Send test.
Send now or schedule
When the campaign is ready, you can choose Send now or Schedule send.
Before confirming, Easymailing shows a summary with:
- sendable recipients;
- segments per message;
- total SMS;
- estimated credits;
- country breakdown;
- unavailable countries, if any;
- current balance and remaining balance.
When scheduling, you can also set the send date, enable progressive sending, and configure confirmation emails when the send finishes.
Why you cannot send the campaign
The campaign cannot be sent if any of these conditions are missing:
- no audience has been selected;
- the audience or segment has no recipients with confirmed SMS status;
- there are no valid phone numbers;
- there is no active SMS sender;
- the message is empty;
- no rate is available for the recipients' countries;
- there are not enough SMS credits.
Review each campaign block and open the send summary again to check the reason.
